19th Annual International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC)

Monday, June 15 – Saturday, June 20

Join the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association for the 19th Annual International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) in Midland, Texas, from June 15th to 20th, 2026. Since 2006, ESRA has hosted the IREC to foster and promote engineering knowledge and experience in rocketry, providing a safe environment for collegiate teams to demonstrate their high-powered rocketry skills. During the IREC, each team is tasked with designing, building, testing, and launching rockets with payloads of 2 kg (4.4 pounds) with target altitudes up to 45,000 feet. The IREC accommodates all chemical propulsion types (solids, hybrids, and liquids), aligning with professional demands in the field. In a world where hands-on experience is highly valued, the IREC offers significant benefits to students aspiring to enter the aerospace industry, often leading to employment with top aerospace companies.
